SMME Recognition Award

(Companies with more than R10million turnover p.a.)

This Award recognizes SMME enterprises with a turnover not greater than R10million per annum that are:

  • Viable businesses which are making inroads in the ICT sector.
  • Has improved service delivery to citizens. Due regard will be given to the impact the project has had on citizens and improvement of public service delivery.
  • Should have contributed to job creation and ongoing digital skills development in the company

Entries adjudication criteria

The start-up company must also meet the criteria below:

  • should have a turnover of no more than R10million per annum,
  • should have implemented ICT solution/ developed an innovative ICT product that has improved service delivery to citizens. Due regard will be given to the impact the project has had on citizens and improvement of public service delivery.
  • must be locally registered and 100% locally owned
  • must be active and operating not more than three (3) years from the date of entry submission;
  • Not be a subsidiary of a well-established company; and
  • the founder of the company and/or the product developers must be the major shareholder/s of the company.
  • Overview of no more than 5-pages outlining the provision of an innovative solution within the ICT public service delivery
  • Overview of the organisation and key players/partners
  • Clear demonstration of improvement to government processes or services
  • Clear demonstration of the benefit to citizens
  • Provide a sworn affidavit indicating that the bidder is SMMEs (EME/QSE) or an Auditor’s certificate or similar certificate issued by an Accounting Officer or a South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) Accredited Verification Agency confirming Company B-BBEE status
  • Graphic depiction of how the objectives of government or a specific department are transformed, improved or enhanced
  • Graphic depiction of the jobs created by the company
  • Clear description of the company’s business model
  • Graphic depiction of the company growth from its inception
  • Submission must demonstrate the contribution being accessible, usable and has successfully been deployed for use by citizens
